A Day Capturing Love at the Art Institute of Chicago

January 31st, 2025

Here's the thing: when it comes to photographing couples, location matters. And recently, I had the pleasure of shooting at one of the best locations in town, the Art Institute of Chicago (@artinstitutechi). If you're familiar, you'll know it's a place brimming with beauty, history, and art.

Jeannette reached out asking for an engagement session here and I was immediately excited. Shooting at the Art Institute of Chicago has been on my bucket list for a while. The building and architecture is inspiring in itself, full of wonderful backdrops to use from the hallways, staircases and art itself. Its gardens and courtyards are immaculately kept, offering a serene escape amidst the urban chaos. That's the Art Institute of Chicago.

Now, imagine this setting as the backdrop for a couple deeply in love. It's like a scene straight out of a movie. You see, this institute isn't just a museum; it's a canvas where moments of love and connection are painted. This is exactly what happened when I had the opportunity to photograph a delightful couple there.

There were so many wonderful and beautiful spots to choose from but I knew the main focal spots had to be the staircases, both in the grand entry and modern wing. Each backdrop added a unique touch to the photographs, enriching the narrative of the couple's love story.

In the end, the photos helped showcase this lovely couples shared connection in a beautiful location. Ultimately they got to leave with photos they'll look back and love forever and I got to spend the day doing what I love most; capturing love in a beautiful location.
